Visual skills

This is the ability to produce something that looks attractive. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you can draw well – although this is something that is still important in a small minority of jobs.

Visual skills are broader than this. If you have them, you can pick the perfect photograph out of a page of possibilities, you know which colours work well together and you can arrange images and text on a web page so the result just looks ‘right’.

Today, there are a lot of applications and templates that will support people who do not have a genuine visual talent, but if you are really going to succeed in a creative job you would be advised to develop your skill in this area by getting an artistic training.
